JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for overseeing and directing the compliance program for Compassionate Care Home Health Agency. The CCO ensures the organization complies with all applicable federal, state, and accreditation standards (e.g., ACHC and CMS). This includes developing policies and procedures, overseeing audits, training staff, and providing guidance to nursing and therapy leaders to maintain clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
This role does not replace existing responsibilities held by clinical leaders but is meant to enhance and centralize compliance efforts, creating consistency, accountability, and support across departments and territories.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive compliance program.
2. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and ACHC regulatory requirements.
3. Coordinate with nursing and therapy supervisors to identify training gaps and compliance challenges.
4. Design and manage an annual educational program to ensure coverage of key compliance topics across all departments.
5. Collaborate with the CCO office to cascade updates, policies, and expectations to supervisors and clinicians.
6. Work with the DPCS and ADON to clearly define compliance oversight responsibilities and avoid duplication of efforts.
7. Oversee and coordinate preparation for surveys and audits, including internal mock surveys.
8. Provide support and guidance during biweekly case conferences and ensure compliance-related topics are reviewed.
9. Develop and enforce corrective action plans when compliance issues are identified.
10. Monitor and communicate changes in CMS and ACHC regulations and assist departments in implementing updates.
11. Maintain a working knowledge of agency policies and procedures and ensure alignment with current guidelines.
12. Effectively communicate compliance goals and findings with leadership and field teams.
13. Prepare and submit reports related to compliance performance and improvement plans.
14. Support ongoing clinical performance improvement initiatives in collaboration with supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• At least 3–5 years of experience in Home Health
• 1+ years in a leadership role (compliance or clinical preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of ACHC and CMS guidelines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent attention to detail, planning, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to work autonomously, develop solutions, and coordinate corrective actions
